At The Guadalupe Carwash
by Nevada Kerr

He buried the bodies where water won't flow
By the haunted whorehouse on Red Rock Road
A born again fisher in his factory clothes
And a child bride with a broken nose
Husband and wife dodging the border patrol

Thorns and weeds grew out of her face
Roses bloomed around his waist
In the half moon frost near a burning tree
A borderland killer clutched his rosary
Shouting 'Holy Mother pray for me!'
Coyote Chavez confessed to the crime
At the Guadalupe Carwash behind the old copper mine
