BOWIE GRACES RUSSIAN ESQUIRE

As you can see DAVID BOWIE appears on the front cover of the Russian edition of ESQUIRE magazine.

This April 2010 issue 54 features: Amenities - rules of life, David Bowie, David Duchovny and Matt Groening and a five-minute guide to the bitten policemen.

I can't tell you much more, as my Russian is about as good as my Japanese.

IMAN has been interviewed by Sowetan News talking about life with her husband DAVID BOWIE during the launch of Iman Cosmetics in South Africa.

One of the interview highlights...

"He is very funny and he keeps me entertained. He is curious and is interested in everything. I have learnt a lot about the arts through him."

"For all those who are wondering - does David wear make-up anymore? No he does not," says Iman laughing.

"Have I tested Iman cosmetics on him?," still laughing Iman says: "No."

IMAN HONOURED WITH CFDA FASHION ICON AWARD

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) have announced the nominations for their 2010 Awards.

IMAN has been honoured with the Fashion Icon award, which is presented to an individual whose signature style has had a profound influence on fashion.

The annual CFDA gala takes place in New York on Monday 7th June at the Lincoln Center.

The CFDA Board of Directors also announced the late Alexander McQueen as posthumous recipient of its Special Tribute Award.

• DAVID BOWIE sent a message of condolence to the family of singer/songwriter LESLEY DUNCAN who sadly passed away last week. As you may know, David and John 'Hutch' Hutchinson recorded their version of Leslie's 'Love Song' for a demo tape back in 1968 at Clareville Grove, Kensington for Bob Grace of Chrysalis Music - [Read here]...

• Heritage Auction Galleries are auctioning a DAVID BOWIE contract from the movie 'The Man Who Fell To Earth'. Lot: 50035 is a twenty-five page agreement engaged Bowie to star in Nicolas Roeg's 1976 adaptation of the science fiction novel by Walter Tevis, dated August 7th 1975, signed by the singer/actor on page 24 in black ink. The contract states that the movie began filming with a start date of 2nd June 1975 for 12 consecutive weeks. David was contracted to receive a guaranteed sum of $75,000 which worked out as a salary of $7,500 a week for 12 weeks. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA. • ADAM BUXTON one half of the Adam and Joe comedy team has recorded a comedic version of DAVID BOWIE's iconic song 'Changes' in support of BBC 6 MUSIC digital radio station. The second magazine goes on sale on Tuesday 16th March which features 'Space Oddity' and 'Young Americans' CDs, and the subsequent seven magazines weekly until 4th May 2010.

David Bowie The Essential Collection Italy 2010

EMI ITALY have launched the DAVID BOWIE exclusive 2010 Italian collectors only box set entitled: 'The Essential Collection'.

Released on the Sorrisi E Canzoni / EMI label (cat. 9770038156727), this collectors only box set was exclusively released in Italy today 10th March in conjuction with Italian TV guide magazine Sorrisi e Canzoni TV.

The idea is to collect all 9 magazine packages each week in the series, and you will have a full David Bowie 'Essential Collection' Italian box featuring a total of sixteen CD's and one DVD which are all exclusive Italian pressings licensed by EMI especially for this release.

The first magazine (part 1 of 9) comes packaged together with the first two CDs 'Ziggy Stardust' and 'Let's Dance', along with unique special collection box which measures 18cm x 15cm x 13cm.

These magazines will only be sold from select news stands for just one week each, and then retracted from the market again.

The second issue goes on sale on 16th March which features 'Space Oddity' and 'Young Americans' CDs, and the subsequent seven magazines weekly until 4th May 2010.

CHERRY VANILLA: LICK ME

CHERRY VANILLA has written a new book about her past entitled Lick Me: How I Became Cherry Vanilla (by way of The Copacabana, Madison Avenue, The Fillmore East, Andy Warhol, David Bowie and The Police), complete with foreword by Rufus Wainwright.

The publication is scheduled for release on 1st November 2010.

Cherry (aka Kathy Dorritie) was an employee of MainMan as DAVID BOWIE's publicist, wrote the Mirabelle My World columns on behalf of David, she was also a member of the Andy Warhol stage show 'Pork', as well as releasing two solo albums on RCA Records 'Bad Girl' and 'Venus D Vinyl'.

The 48-minute taped interview took place at St Paul Hotel in Minneapolis with DJ SLT posing the questions 11 days ago (20th Feb).

Mike chats at length about his long recording career, working with DAVID BOWIE, Mick Ronson, Nine Inch Nails, Ellington and his solo work.

ST. PAUL'S GALLERY are a publishing company based in the UK and have produced under license fine art limited edition prints of three of DAVID BOWIE's finest early album covers.

'Hunky Dory', 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars' and 'Aladdin Sane' prints have all been signed by both the original cover artists / designers and David Bowie himself.

They were produced from the original artwork with the involvement of both Henry Wrenn-Meleck and DAVID BOWIE himself, with only 195 prints of each available worldwide.

Listed up on eBay is the highly desirable advance promotional Pye Records 7" vinyl of DAVID BOWIE's 'Can't Help Thinking About Me', (7N 17020).

Not only that, this one comes complete with the very rarely seen original Pye Records 8"x10" promotional photograph that was sent out with this release.

Both the record and photograph are in excellent condition.

Bidding is at a mere �55 at present, but expect this to go for big money.
