DANNY S MAGIC DANCE REMIX
28th December 2003

Hot new producer DANNY S has remixed DAVID BOWIE's 'Magic Dance' from the film Labrynth. Bowie and his management loved the mix and was included on the Club Bowie album which is out now.

There is a very limited pressing of the mix on vinyl (2000 copies only), along with an exclusive dub on the b-side. It will be for sale in the usual record stores, however the bulk of the vinyl is being sold via www.subuzz.com.

Danny S is one of the rising stars in House music and has projects due for release with some of the most credible names in Dance music.

Magic Dance      Release details:
     Title: Magic Dance
     Tracklisting:
Danny S Magic Party Mix [mp3 sample]
Danny S Magic Dust Dub  [mp3 sample]
     Artist: David Bowie
     Label: 7mps
     Cat No: DBD001
     Released: 23rd December 2003
     Price: £5.00

Description: LIMITED PRESSING!! Rising star Danny S does the business on this Bowie gem taken from the film Labrynth. The Danny S Magic Party Mix is featured on the Club Bowie album but the harder and darker Magic Dust Dub is only available on this vinyl.

Reviews: Danny S delivers two superb mixes. The Magic Party mix is an in your face party mix which uses the vocal hook very well, but look out for those incredible sub bass frequencies which will test any system to the max. The dub is a tougher workout - excellent production and technical wizardry throughout - this is Bowie remixed with respect, an essential piece of plastic for fans and dj's alike.

ITALIAN BOWIE FAN MEETING
18th December 2003

David Bowie Italian Fan Meet To All Bowie Fans Worldwide... from the 4th to the 6th January 2004 in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, the annual DAVID BOWIE tribute will take place in collaboration with the National Bowie fan's meeting. "SILUETTES & SHADOWS".

This is now the 6th event of it's kind which will be held on the eve of David Bowie's birthday. Each year in this town we see various artists and personalities, which are linked to one of the most influential stars in the history of rock.

Why in Bassano del Grappa and not in Milan?... It may seem strange but Bassano del Grappa can boast the highest number of Bowie fans in relation to the number of residents.

This year's event aims to bring together life-long fans and new admirers by giving them visual and musical material to deepen their knowledge of the artist. This 3 day event will be organised and supported by: the website www.moonagedaydream.it which promotes the artist in Italy, and by the local clubs etc, which in these three days, will make available their space for the showing of videos, organisation of exhibits and for the closing party, where it will be not only possible to listen to live bands playing "Bowie hits", but to dance to the Duke's successes and many other artists who have collaborated with him... such as T-Rex, Placebo, Roxy Music, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop.

The cultural side of this event will be given by the presence of Philippe Auliac, the French photographer who can count amongst his "models" none other than Bowie, Mick Jagger, Elton John and Iggy Pop. Thanks to the contribution of P. Auliac you will be able to see almost 20 unedited photos dedicated to Bowie, which date from 1976 to 2003. These will be displayed in Sotto Underbar (1 Via Gamba, Bassano del Grappa.).

During this event we will realize a video cassette that will contain Birthday Greetings from fans who wish to leave message for "the Duke" for his birthday on 8th January. The messages will then subsequently be shown on the website.

Moreover an exhibition entitled "Golden Years for Teenage Wildlife" is planned which thanks to the support of collectionists, rare memorabilia and CDs from the period 1975 to 1979 will be on show. It was in this period that David Bowie spent a good three years in Berlin and worked with the legendary Brian Eno. This exhibition will be held in the "Saletta" of Birreria Ottocento (2 Via S. Giorgio, Bassano del Grappa).

At Shindy Club, after an Indian dinner, four live bands will play: Radiofiera, Mosika Sound, Mastica and Piol who will join to give us a Bowie Hot Night. At 00.30 we'll start the dancing party.

All Bowie Curious and Fans are welcome!

David in Montreal DAVID BOWIE and his band got his North American leg of the 'A Reality' world tour underway tonight in Montreal, Canada at the Bell Centre.

David spoke quite a bit of French to the Quebecois audience and he mentioned his recent illness saying, for example: "I'm never gonnna get old, I'm never gonna get 'flu!"

At one point during the show David made fun of his "interpretive dance" and mentioned Eduard Lock, La La La Human Steps and Louise Lecavalier, he then pretended to look for her in the audience.

CABARET-STYLE BOWIE HOMAGE
9th December 2003

Darkness and Disgrace: Special Edition at the Retro Bar, London WC2

DES DE MOOR and RUSSELL CHURNEY perform the songs of DAVID BOWIE with DJ Ian Harris

Tuesday 16 December 2003, 20:00-23:00

English chansonnier Des de Moor and musical cabaret virtuoso Russell Churney celebrate the release of a new CD of their show of David Bowie songs, Darkness and Disgrace, with a "special edition" performance at one of London's friendliest drinking holes, the Retro Bar on the Strand.

Darkness and Disgrace began life as a music theatre piece, an intimate and emotionally dynamic musical excursion tracing Bowie's oeuvre from its roots in the soul-soaked, creatively explosive London of the 1960s and onwards through a landscape peopled by mod Newley-wannabes, sexually ambivalent science fiction apocalypse prophets, Brel-fixated trash theatre queens, drug-stupefied cold war romantics, pre-millennial art murderers and wild-eyed aliens from Bromley. The show has drawn acclaim from critics and audiences alike, with several London runs, a stint at the Edinburgh fringe and numerous touring dates. David Bowie himself described a recording of the show as "a real ear opener".

This special one-off gig marks the first performance since a London run back in February, with an hour-long selection of songs. DJ Ian Harris will be topping and tailing the evening with an eclectic but appropriate mix of good quality pop tunes from the 60s to 80s.

"A must see... stunning new versions of Bowie songs" - Xfm Radio
"Fascinating... an enigmatic two hander" - The Times
"Intelligent and moving... providing new insights at every turn" - What's On In London
"Inspired... a very clever and entertaining piece" - Bowienet

THE RETRO BAR 2 George Court (off the Strand), London WC2N 6HH
Admission £5/£4 - Reservations 020 7321 2811

TWO ADDITIONAL SHOWS POSTPONED

Official Press Release: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 12.08.2003:
DAVID BOWIE FORCED TO POSTPONE BOSTON AND PHILADELPHIA SHOWS THIS WEEK ON NORTH AMERICAN LEG OF HIS 'A REALITY TOUR' DUE TO CONTINUED BOUT WITH FLU

DAVID BOWIE has been forced to postpone two additional shows on the North American leg of his 'A Reality Tour' as doctors have ordered him to remain in bed for a few days longer while he shakes the flu. Fans who were planning to attend these two shows - Boston - Tuesday, Dec. 9th - FleetCenter, and Philadelphia - Dec. 10 - First Union Spectrum (in addition to the previously postponed Atlantic City and Washington performances) - should retain their tickets until a new show date is announced. Tickets for the previously scheduled performances will be honored at the rescheduled events.

BOWIE is coming off a sold-out and critically acclaimed tour of Europe and the U.K. in connection with his current album REALITY, which debuted in the #1 position on Billboard's Pan European chart and entered the Top 10 in 15 countries. Yesterday, he was honored with a Grammy nomination for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for 'New Killer Star', a track from REALITY and a highlight of the live show.

It is expected that BOWIE will now launch his North American tour Friday, December 12th in Toronto.

THE DUKE AND EARL
7th December 2003

Zig Zag by Earl Slick This week finally sees the release of EARL SLICK's eagerly awaited solo album entitled Zig Zag on Sanctuary Records.

Recorded in Portland, Oregon, New York City, Dublin, Ireland, London, UK and produced by Mark Plati, the album features guest artists such as DAVID BOWIE, Robert Smith of The Cure, Martha Davis, Spacehog's Roy Langdon and Def Leppard's Joe Elliott.

The ten-track album features David Bowie's vocal talents on their excellent co-written song Isn't It Evening (The Revolutionary). The song sees Bowie draping a haunting pop melody over Slick's mesmerizingly subtle guitar shadings. "David sounds amazing on the song," says Slick. "I remember being in the studio when he recorded the vocals and thinking, 'This is weird. For once, I'm on the other side of the glass and he's playing on a track for me. He nailed his vocals in one or two takes and it came out great - that's the beauty of working with David. I've been in the studio with other guys who've been around just as long as he has and it can sometimes take a week or longer to get a single vocal track done, and that's only if you bring in a team of psychiatrists and some Prozac."

"David got wind of 'Zig Zag' and said he wanted to get involved in the record," Slick says. "His track was the one that was in the most raw form; I gave him a cassette with half a dozen things on it, and that one had a rhythm guitar and a little guitar melody - and that's it. He came up with the lyrics and fleshed out the melody and turned it into this killer song."

The album tracklisting is as follows:

     01. Dancing With Eleanor

CALLING BOWIE COLLECTORS
5th December 2003

Trident Ziggy Stardust Acetates Here's something for the serious DAVID BOWIE collectors out there to get their teeth into. Up for grabs are two Ziggy Stardust acetates. The seller Mike obtained these acetates from his sister who was a singer and recorded at Trident Studios in London around that time.

The tracks don't sound much different to the finished album, it's more about the tracklisting, two tracks fading out, and a Rolling Stones track included. One has the original orange Trident cover, the other is in a plain orange cover.

Anyone interested in these rare items should contact the owner/seller Mike Corbally via BWW and I will forward any enquiries on.

I DIG EVERYTHING
3rd December 2003

Check out an online interview with DAVID BOWIE in 'the best little paper in Boston' the WEEKLY DIG - David Wildman spoke with db by phone from London, some of highlights include:

The direction you seem to be going these days, moving away from the heavy electronica that you've been doing, is this a deliberate choice on your part?
It really isn't. I love all that stuff very much indeed, so I guess I'm just writing the stuff that I feel is right for my time, where I live and what I'm doing. I can quite see myself doing ... I mean, David Torn, who I work with these days quite a bit, we've talked about doing something maybe a little more techy in the future.

Tell me about the tour.
This leg of the tour, we've got about 30 dates. I know we're coming back to the States in the spring. Then we'll be doing a whole bunch more when we come back, after we do New Zealand and Japan and Hong Kong and all that, you know? We've got Wembley, London for the next few nights, then we end up in Glasgow - that's our very last show in Europe. It's been a hell of a run. It's been a great tour - really excellent tour.

Do you ever feel under pressure to keep coming up with something new?
'Under Pressure' we do in the show, and Gail Dorsey is doing the Freddie Mercury part (laughs). Boy she's good, and I've got to follow that each night. She sings her tits off that thing. The only thing I can compete with is I usually follow up with 'Life On Mars?' and look back at her EHRAAA! [makes taunting noise and laughs heartily]. It's the only thing that will stand up to that bugger! Under pressure to do what?

To come up with something new each time you release a record. You've dipped into so many styles.
No, no, it has to be what I like. It has to be, but you know it starts off from there. If I've gotten all fancy about something then that will probably end up somewhere in there. But usually I just try to create a nice atmosphere for the song in question.

SCOTTISH BOWIE THEMED WEDDING
1st December 2003

When DAVID BOWIE played Glasgow last Friday there was also another special event going on at the same time, same place.

Terry and Denise got married on Friday 28th November and the ceremony was based around a David Bowie theme. They asked their guests to dress up in some kind of Bowie outfit. Denise had a fantastic Ziggy costume made by the art students at their local college, while Terry wore a jazzy frockcoat (no bibberty bobberty hat though!).

Wedding Day The couple walked into the register office to the tune of 'Starman' after 'Life On Mars?' had been played to get the guests ready. At the signing of the register Ziggy Stardust was playing, then after having a quick lunch before the coach took the wedding party to the Bowie concert in Glasgow. (Brilliant night do eh?!!)

Denise said: ..."it was an amazing day and more Bowie fans should dedicate their entire wedding day to Bowie. The groom waited for me to the sound of Life On Mars? and I entered the register office to Starman and the register was signed to Ziggy Stardust. Like I say more fans should do it this way!"

Best wishes and many congratulations to the happy couple from everyone here at BWW :)

ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL 2004
1st December 2003

DAVID BOWIE has jumped at the chance to headline the Isle Of Wight Festival next year on 13th June. The star said he has longed to play the legendary event which was revived in 2002.

Bowie said of the show: "I was so envious of other acts that got to do the other Isle of Wight Festivals - it is really coming back."

The festival hosted performances by The Who, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and The Doors in its earlier incarnation. It was held each summer from 1968 to 1970. The next festival will take place from June 11th to 13th.

Bowie added: "This is the very first time I have been to the Isle of Wight Festival. Obviously I've been to the Isle of Wight, it's a fabulous place - I used to go there on holiday when I was a kid. I jumped at it, it is a smashing thing to do."

Bowie - who has been a Glastonbury headliner in the past - said he loved the vibe of festivals... "It is definitely one of my favourite ways to work - I love older and younger bands, and for a guy like me it is great to see the mix."

From ITV News.
