GEOCENTRIC BOWIE MIXES
25th November 2007

Check out six DAVID BOWIE remixes created by the rather talented GEOCENTRIC. Huge Bowie fan, artist, musician, illustrator, animator and all-round talented Geo describes his six mixes and mash ups in the following manner...

Fashion (GeoCentric Mix) - 'You Belong In Rock N' Roll' and a little bit of "Heroes".

"Heroes" (GeoCentric Mix) - the rhythm is from 'Pallas Athena' from the Tao Jones disc.

Space Oddity (GeoCentric Mix) - Hal from 2001, the Apollo 11 moon shot and Kraftwerk's 'Radioland'. I heard that track the first time at the S2S show before the Dali film in 76 in Philly. I've never been the same since.

New Town (GeoCentric Mashup) - features 'It's No Game', 'Stay', 'A New Career In A New Town', 'Queen Bitch', 'Under Pressure', 'Aladdin Sane', 'Fame', 'Moonage Daydream' and 'Golden Years' is in there too.

Lady Stardust (GeoCentric Remix) - a hip hop version - yeah really!

And something I'm calling Stay (Time Travel Jam) - it's a mash up of studio version woven with live versions from '76, '78, '97 and '04. It's a wall of sound.

Visit home.comcast.net/~geowolst/pages/bowie_remixes.htm where you can download the tracks for free.

Whilst you're there click on 'Projects' to check out an animac preview of 'Please Mr. Gravedigger' which is an animation short currently in production, as well as some of his Bowie artwork.

BOWIE MUG SHOT RAISES $2,556
19th November 2007

David Jones The 1976 Rochester Police Department mugshot of DAVID BOWIE raised a total of $2,556 (£1,247.44 GBP / 1,743.00 Euros) on eBay yesterday.

The photograph was taken on 25th March 1976 after he was arrested for possessing marijuana in Rochester, New York, on 21st March 1976.

The photograph was rescued from the rubbish during an estate sale of a retired Rochester police officer.

Tom Hess, who sold the mugshot to raise money for his sick brother, said his brother was working for the auction house in charge of the cop's estate. Gary Hess, now 38, spotted the black and white picture in the trash, but did not realise its value.

The picture was taken four days after Bowie was arrested, along with singer Iggy Pop, bodyguard Dwain A. Vaughns (22), of Brooklyn and Chi Wah Soo (20) of Rochester on drug possession charges.

The four were arrested at 2:25 a.m. in a three-room suite in the hotel at 70 State St. by four city vice squad detectives and a State Police investigator. They were all charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Police said they confiscated what they described as about half a pound of marijuana (182 grams). The charge was a Class C felony, carrying a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

They were busted at the Americana Rochester Hotel and held in the Monroe County jail for a few hours before being released on bond - at Bowie's expense.

The mug-shot was taken when the performer appeared at the city court for arraignment. The 5x4 inch snap shows Bowie in profile and full face on.

BOWIE MUG SHOT UNCOVERED
11th November 2007

David Jones This previously unseen Rochester Police Department mugshot of DAVID BOWIE is currently being sold on eBay, after the story and photo first broke last Thursday over on thesmokinggun.com website.

The photograph was taken after he was arrested for possessing marijuana in Rochester, New York, on 21st March 1976.

The photograph was rescued from the rubbish during an estate sale of a retired Rochester police officer.

Tom Hess, who is selling the mugshot to raise money for his sick brother, said his brother was working for the auction house in charge of the cop's estate. Gary Hess, now 38, spotted the black and white picture in the trash, but did not realise its value.

The picture was taken four days after Bowie was arrested, along with singer Iggy Pop, bodyguard Dwayne A. Vaughn (22), of Brooklyn and Chi Wah Soo (20) of Rochester on drug possession charges.

The mug-shot was taken when the performer appeared at the city court for arraignment. The 5x4 inch snap shows Bowie in profile and full face on.

Todd explains: "My brother is ill and needs fast cash to keep him out of trouble and literally keep a roof over his head. "Every single penny is going towards helping my brother during this hardship.

"Be prepared for this auction to escalate into hundreds, possibly thousands of dollars. This the original one of a kind photo." He added: "I would also like to offer the photo back to Mr. Bowie if he is willing to pay for my brother's bills and also donate a considerable amount to AIDS Rochester."

The eBay auction is due to end on 18th November. At present it's hit the $660 mark.
